Conference: "Medecine and Health in Ancient Cambodia"

Abstract: This lecture reviews the history of health and medicine at Angkor under King Jayavarman VII (1180-1220 AD). It is based on the analysis of three main themes: the relation between the field of politics and that of medicine in the flourishing Kingdom of Angkor; the relation between religion and medicine with respect to its theoretical and institutional dimensions; and finally the patterns of the education systems and the practice of medicine during that period.

Given by Professor Rethy K Chhem from the University of Western Ontario, the conference will take place Thursday December 4 from 6:30 to 8 PM in Room  LB-1014.
